GLAMOUR:Miss Philippines crowned new Miss World 2013, Miss Ghana third position

Miss Philippines was Saturday crowned Miss World 2013 in a glittering finale on the Indonesian resort island of Bali amid tight security following weeks of hardline Muslim protests.

Some 127 contestants took to the stage Saturday for the final and they were quickly whittled down to six. France came in second and Ghana was third.

Nigeria's representative, Anna Banner did not make it to the final 10, as she was eliminated in the first round of eliminations.

As hundreds of Muslim hardliners held a prayer session in a mosque near the capital to express their anger at the contest, Megan Young wept as she won the coveted title in the final on Hindu-majority Bali.

The 23-year-old, wearing a pearl white gown, promised to be “the best Miss World ever” in front of a cheering crowd in a venue guarded by heavily armed police and water cannons.

Young, who is studying digital media and also presents TV shows in the Philippines, pledged to “just be myself in everything I do, to share what I know and to educate people”.

Let God Be The Judge Between Me And Kollington Ayinla- Queen Salawa Abeni

After 23years of living separately from the father of three of her children, Queen Salawa Abeni has said, God should be the judge of whatever bad Kollington Ayinla has done to her. She made the statement recently at the Annual London African Music Festival.

Zamfara: 8,000 Women Cry For Help! We Need Men In Our Lives

Over 8,000 women on Thursday marched to the Zamfara Hisbah Commission seeking the state government’s assistance to enable them get married.

Led by the Chairperson of the Zamfara Widows Association, Hajiya Suwaiba Isa and their patron Alhaji Sa’idu Goshe, the women said they were not living a normal life and needed husbands to become whole.

“Many of us cannot afford two meals in a day because there are no men to support us,” they said.


The patron, said the association has over 8,000 women, comprising 5,380 divorcees, 2,200 widows, 1,200 orphans and 80 others, whom he said, were looking for men to marry.

He said the women also needed assistance to purchase household items such as beds, mattresses and other basic necessities needed to move to their husband houses.
Goshe appealed to the commission to assist the association in screening suitors for the women.

He said the screening would determine the suitors health status, source of livelihood and ability to maintain a family.

Responding, the Chairman of the commission, Dr Atiku Zawuyya, commended the association for the initiative, saying it would assist in ridding the society of women of easy virtues.
Zawuyya promised to present the matter to the state government for necessary action, but urged the patron to also set up a similar body for men to make the pairing exercise easier.

Chinese man has new nose grown on his forehead after losing his nose in a car crash

 

A 22 year old Chinese man named Xiaolian has had a new nose grown on his forehead after loosing his original nose in a car accident. 


Xiaolian had the treatment to create a replacement for his original nose which was infected and deformed following the accident in 2012. 

He actually left his damaged nose unattended to after the accident which led to the infection and eventual deformity, leaving the surgeons unable to repair it.
Surgeons in China were left with no option than to create another nose for the man to breathe properly and then transplant it to the original place. 

The nose was created by placing a skin tissue expander onto Xiaolian’s forehead. This was cut into the shape of a nose and was supported by cartilage taken from the man’s ribs.

Surgeons say that the nose has developed well and that the transplant surgery will be carried out soon.

Martins snubs coach for being subbed

Seattle Sounders forward, Obafemi Martins, reportedly snubbed coach Sigi Schmid following his substitution with Marc Burch in the 82nd minute of their game against LA Galaxy which ended 1-1.

Martins was visibly upset at being substituted and made a point of avoiding Schmid as he walked toward the bench.


But while Schmid admitted players could be emotional during matches, he said he and Martins had settled the misunderstanding.

“It’s an emotional game. Emotional players are emotional. That’s what you expect. Nobody is going to be happy when they come off the field,” Schmid told Seattle Times.

“Oba and myself have talked about the situation, and he acknowledged the player going in for him, which I think is very, very important. I get really upset if they don’t do that. But he acknowledged the player that went in for him and he was frustrated.

“He was upset at being subbed out. It wasn’t where he was trying to show the world that he was upset with the coach. It was just something where he was frustrated coming out of the game because he’s a competitor. That’s what you expect all your players to be.

“There is maybe decorum and diplomacy and shaking the hands and all of that stuff, but in the game, for me to turn that into a confrontation I think is silly and stupid. I’ve coached too long to do that. I understand. If I feel the player has a bad intention or there is something not good there, then we deal with it. But I didn’t think that was the case, and we spoke about it today (Tuesday, during training).”

GLAMOUR:Snake Found On A Plane In Australia, Passengers Stranded

A snake on a plane has left hundreds of passengers stranded overnight in Sydney.

The eight-inch (20cm) Mandarin rat snake was discovered by staff in the doorway of a Qantas 747 jet due to leave Sydney for Tokyo.


The reptile was spotted just before passengers began boarding.

Some 370 passengers were booked on the flight but all had to spend Sunday night in Sydney hotels thanks to the slippery customer.

Australia's Agriculture Department said the snake, a species that grows to an average length of 1.2 metres (4ft), had been euthanised "as exotic reptiles of this kind can harbour pests and diseases not present in Australia".

The department said the snake had arrived aboard the jet in a flight a day earlier from Singapore.

"The Department of Agriculture is looking into how the snake came to be on the plane, but isn't able to speculate at this time," it said.

The mildly venomous Asian snake was about the width of a pencil and did not pose a threat to humans, but it had the potential to cause ecological havoc in the Australian environment if it had escaped the plane with a mate, Canberra Reptile Zoo herpetologist Peter Child said.

A replacement flight was scheduled to leave on Monday morning for the delayed travellers.

One of the stranded passengers, Noah Harris, told Australia's Channel 7 news: "We got a night in a nice hotel and we lose a day of our trip to Tokyo, but what are you going to do? It's a good story."

It is the second "snakes on a plane" drama for Qantas this year.

In January a three-metre python hitched a ride on an early morning flight from Cairns to Papua New Guinea.

The reptile was spotted trapped on the plane's wing and did not survive the journey.I'll rather call it a celebrity snake**LOL**

I remember a close source swore to me she was pregnant few months ago and i reported it and few other blogs did too, but it turned out to be a flop, lol. On Saturday i saw this particular picture (above) and showed a friend and she said it might just be her shirt, so i gave up, lol. This morning a lot of bloggers have reported she is truly pregnant. Proposing used to be as simple as getting down on one knee and praying your girl says yes, but with the rising trend in larger than life proposals and with all the expectations women have today, men have got to up their game.


Marriage Proposal doesn’t have to be so expensive to be romantic. It could be very simple and yet very romantic and unforgettable. Here are a few inexpensive, simple and yet romantic ways you could propose and give your sweetheart that unforgettable memory.

Go out for a night of dancing and ask the DJ or bandleader to pass you the mic so you can dedicate a song and propose on the dance floor.

Flying anytime soon? Use the plane's loudspeaker system (of course, run your plan by the flight attendants first) and propose at 35,000 feet.

Gather a bunch of your friends and family for a party and have them put on a T-shirt bearing one of the words in the phrase "Will you marry me?" When you walk into the room with your girlfriend, suggest a group picture and let the shirts speak for themselves.


Restaurants are often a very popular place to propose. Take her to any restaurant for any meal, though dinner usually works best. Call beforehand, and get their advice on the best way to propose in their restaurant. The proposal could be written out on a plate, or it could be in the menu or perhaps the waiter could deliver the ring along with your meal, or it could be in the dessert.

If she is a football lover, you could get her a customized jersey that has her favorite number and your name on it. Tell her you have a surprise for her in the bedroom. Invite her over and create a path to the engagement ring. For example, scatter petals from the front door to the bedroom, and then use more petals to spell out "Will you marry me?"

These are just ideas that could be of help. The most important thing is to know what your lady likes and make your plans in line with that. However simple the proposal is, she'd appreciate you making an effort beyond the usual proposal.
